Details of The Tournament
A 3 round
Swiss system tournament, u n-rated,
but held under standard United States Chess Federation rules (the standard for
chess tournaments in the United States). Based on entries, there should
be 3 sections to group players by grade (grade K 2 / 3
5 / 6 8).
Each game will last 40
minutes (20 minutes per player, or Game/20). Supper will be
provided for players, and adult helpers. Free T-Shirt with a logo for
the event will be given at the end of the event. . Trophies will be
awarded to the top 3 in each section.

TIME SCHEDULE:
Check-in 5:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. at the site.
Round 1 to start at 6:15
Supper 6:55 p.m.
Round 2 to start at 7:30 p.m.
Round 3 to start at 8:25 p.m.
Awards 9:30 p.m.
- 10:00 p.m.
OPEN TO: Students in
Grades K 8 who play chess (USCF membership, or rating not required).
PLAYERS ARE TO BRING: Their
own boards and sets if they can. Players with chess clocks are asked to
bring them if they can.
In a Swiss System tournament,
players are ranked by playing ability, or randomly, and paired against each
other for round one. In round two, each winning player plays another
winner, and those yet to win play another player who is also yet to win.
In round 3 those with two wins play another player with two wins, and those
with one win, play another player with one win, and those yet to win play
another player, yet to win. No player ever plays the same opponent more
than once.
